A loving woman
paula robles nettel
A loving woman can leave her husband,
she knows well,
she once was that wife
full of hope and optimistic love
raising the kids, sharing a life
she spoke of everything to him.
He accepted her embrace during the
day,
but at night, the dark abyss between them
grew wider and darker
that warm and loving bed
became a prison they shared,
his thoughts where far away
on something or someone else,
her thoughts on him, she wanted his
love
and not just a dutiful man
to share the bed at night.
They paid the bills, drove the kids
the world knew nothing of this
but their invisible painful smiles.
And yet, year after year
with growing certainty she knew
that he was doing what Kant would
have done.
A loving woman can leave her
husband,
I know well,
I once was that wife
who grew tired of waiting
for him to have the courage
to leave what he couldn’t longer
love.
A loving wife can leave her man
and gamble a middling commitment for
uncertainty,
to pretend and to endure thought the loving woman
was more difficult than to leave.

enough to leave". Milan Kundera - The unbearable lightness of being.
