The woman who wore blinders
Paula Robles Nettel
She is a
woman of 40 plus,
perhaps she
has already lived all her passions,
for she
stands next to that man
who constantly
thinks of others,
for his
nature cannot be tamed,
for her
circumstances she rather accept,
she invested
so much in him and that’s enough,
to sustain
her dream even without his heart.
She will
rather give away the years than to lose him.
How many of
her precious years, will she give away?
She might
think she has already lived all her passions,
for she has
died inside without knowing,
for she worships
the idea of him than herself.
And if she
freed herself,
How many
passions will a woman allow herself,
before she
settles again,
into the
convenient alliance of companionship,
and some
sort of middling love?
For a woman
of 40 plus might never discover
blinders a
man has never wore,
blinders, a
man never asked her to wear.
